Serenia is the Keeper of the Second Voice, entrusted with preserving the responses and harmonies that complete Albion’s oldest songs. Carrying an illuminated book of sacred verses, she answers the leading voice during ceremonies, vigils and journeys through the Veil.

Composed, intelligent and quietly determined, Serenia never seeks the centre of attention, yet her voice often reveals meanings concealed within the principal melody. Recently, unfamiliar lines have appeared in her book after nightfall, written in ink that vanishes at dawn. Each seems to answer a song that has not yet been sung – and Serenia fears the final response may already contain the name of the person destined to sing it.
